So… if you’re on this page, you are probably wondering who I am and what makes me uniquely qualified to help YOU. I don’t have a happy, glossy story to tell you of an idyllic childhood, a fairytale career or a #blessed #toogoodtobetrue life. Very few people I meet do…. but this can all change. Here’s how it goes…
Small Town Beginnings & A Mother’s Love
Life started out with pretty modest beginnings; I raised by a single mom, at a time when that wasn’t cool and I was the only kid I knew, or met until after college (yes, really! ) who came from a single parent home. It was life in a small city, where we were poor, moved a lot, went to multiple schools, wore second hand clothes and were largely without resources. I grew up in a family where the discussion of emotions, spirituality or god-help-you “body issues” was forbidden and taboo. And we rarely felt unconditionally loved.
But in retrospect, my single mother worked multiple jobs, was probably seriously sleep deprived, was young and un-resourced and disapproved of herself. But she still made sure I had warm clothes, impeccable table manners, a slew of small pets (a bird, fish, turtle, a hamster or 2… you get the idea) and ballet lessons for grace. Wow!
Post-secondary education was only within reach at a community college with student loans, part-time jobs and living on lettuce and popcorn in conditions I’d sooner forget.
So how did I get to shiny, happy, yoga-loving, spiritually solid, Beverly Hills, Actress and Life Coach? This is the REAL story… and THIS is what makes me uniquely qualified to help YOU.
Growing up, magazines were my gateway to the world. They showed me beautiful places and beautiful lives that were far beyond anything I had ever seen or could have imagined from a limited small town perspective. Looking back, they were my first “vision boards”, pointing the way to a bigger, better, happier life. Problem: I had no idea how to get there.
The “Awkward Phase”
Self-help and self-awareness became my obsession from the first time someone put a psychology book in my hand – around the time I was sixteen. Bad-bangs, braces, big breasts at an awkwardly young age and being generally a little overweight, left me feeling painfully shy and constantly insecure. (and yes, you guessed it, school was no picnic!) Awareness equalled change. This was the way out.
Struggling with depression, I found my way through psychology and onto a spiritual path. The combination ignited my personal growth! But there was still something missing…. lingering was a deep frustration of wanting something more, something better but just not having the tools, resources or knowledge of how to create that radical positive change and live the kind of life I could so easily imagine and deeply desired. I read books, attended workshops and immersed myself in new age, spiritual and psychological therapies. With the help of fierce teachers and loving guides, slowly, but surely, like a brilliant rosebud watered with plenty of tears, my life began to unfold, open up and just blossom.
Coming Into My Own
I went on to train in a number of healing modalities, including Chakra Balancing, Polarity Therapy, Somato Respiratory Integration, Inner Child Healing, The Shadow Process, Akashic Records and Past Life Regressions as well as getting a BA in Psychology and becoming a Certified Integrative Life Coach.
While I am deeply grateful for all of the healing modalities, and they have all helped to transform both my life and the lives of my clients in miraculous ways, it was coaching that turned the key. Everything else had led up to that, but it was finally something that was practical and action oriented that produced tangible, measurable, real world results.
How This Helps You
This awakening, and a path that is a little less troubled is what I’d love to share with you. And this is why Inspired Solutions was born.
Throughout the pages of this site you’ll find practical tips, bits of motivation, inspiration, soul food and spiritual guidance. Much of it comes from my own journey and teachings as well as work with clients in the now 10 + years since stepping into the coaching sphere.
It’s more than information. It’s hands-on, usable and ready to apply to your own life. Take what you need right now, what serves you in this moment, and leave the rest. We can only assimilate and apply so much at once. But visit frequently…. you never know what might be the next little gem you uncover.
Many of the posts you find here are what I call “tactical and practical”. They are designed to be uncomplicated, easy to implement quickly, and to make your life run smoother, better, happier. There are tips on communication, clarity, focus and how to just get the stuff done that will bring you greater success.
But equally important are the spiritual lessons. This is where the modern day wisdom comes in; soul searching, self-care, personal empowerment and radical self esteem. It’s only when we examine our ‘whys’ that the ‘hows’ truly make sense and last for the long haul.
As my own life and career evolves, there isn’t always as much time to work one-on-one with clients in a coaching situation anymore, so this is where we come together……
Ask questions. Post comments. Connect on social media. I’d love to get into discussion with you, and of course converse with each other! We all have something to teach each other and we all have something to learn. And creating radical shifts and standing up for your life is so much easier when we remember that we are all in this together and you are never truly alone.
I’m so glad that you’re here!
