Death and dying isn’t something we discuss a lot in western culture; as a matter of fact the whole subject is kind of taboo. It’s not happy or fun, yet it is monumentally complex and something that all of us are going to have to deal with at some point in our lives.
Currently, with 7.5 billion people on this planet, it means that we will have that many deaths in the next 100 years – yet no one is talking about it!
Death, dying and grieving… I’ve dealt with a lot of this on my life and I’m usually the ‘go-to’ person when others find their own lives touched with this kind of heartache and sorrow. Recently this was brought to the forefront in my own life again, in an immensely personal way and with new layers that I had not experienced before. It brought challenges, new awarenesses and opportunities for growth, understanding and compassion. Ultimately they are all gifts, even if they don’t come wrapped in the prettiest of packaging.
As I began the journey through these strange events and turbulent emotions I decided that it was something I wanted to share. Maybe by opening a conversation I can help You or someone you love.
The first 3 videos were shot at an airport just holding my iPhone. At the time of this writing, more are planned.
If this speaks to you, please join in the conversation and leave a comment below. Really, it’s time we all started talking about this.
p.s. SPOILER ALERT: I made it!
